What an eventful yet relaxing weekend! My husband and I had a nice Sunday walk to North Beach to enjoy brunch at Cotogna. Cotogna is owned by Chef Michael Tusk (also owner of neighbor, Quince). The restaurant is rustic Italian with a beautiful, casual environment. It’s very warm and welcoming, with exposed brick and a partial open kitchen where you see things from cauliflower to pork belly cooking on the spit to housemade bacon being made on the grill and a wood-oven for the pizza. We started with a Blood Orange & Cocchi Americano Mimosa and a Dry Farmed Tomato Bloody Mary with Aceto Balsamico & Espelette Pepper (both really unique and delicious). It was a really hard choice – everything sounded amazing (and we’ll have to go back). On this visit we had the Smoked Trout with Zuckerman Farm Asparagus, Rye and Sauce Gribiche and the Heritage Pork Shoulder Hash with English Peas, Cipollini Onion, and Baked Egg. The trout was very fresh and great with the rye. The hash was served in a cast iron pan and the baked egg was great with the pork (cooked perfectly). And while waiting for our dishes, you MUST request the bread. They bring out a skinny slab on fresh, warm foccacia bread that is worth the trip in itself! Cotogna is located in one of my favorite San Francisco neighborhoods – Jackson Historic District. My first PR job was in this area. The narrow streets are lined with brick buildings that range from antique shops to art gallery’s to high-end fashion boutiques.
The blood orange mimosa and simple, rustic plating.
The smoked trout served on a bright orange plate.
And the pork shoulder hash served in the cast iron on a wood board and rye toast on the side.
I love brightly colored jeans and I’m especially loving my red jeans from Gap. Today I wore them with the white blouse from Nordstrom, tan Steve Madden Boots and last but not least my favorite faux fur coat from one of my favorite places in San Francisco – Jeremys Department Store in South Park. If you haven’t been, you must. Secret of the day – I got this faux fur coat there for $24.00. Yes $24!!!!
It’s official – we have our very first Target here in San Francisco and what a better name for it than CityTarget! It’s located in an already buzzing place in the city – at the corner of 4th Street and Mission just feet from Westfield Mall and located in the Metreon SF, which has gone through a complete transformation. Now not only featuring CityTarget, but Chronicle Books, La Boulange, Super Duper Burger and other cute spots! We rode up the escalators in the CityTarget – open now exactly a week – and were amongst hundreds of other people – a few that looked like locals – the rest wandering tourists and out-of-towners that I guess were also interested in seeing what the “City” Target was all about. It’s no different from any other target and I expect they will be extremely busy over the next few months especially (holidays!)
We had one thing in mind for purchase – the game Sequence. I played it growing up as a child all the time – for hours on end. It had been a very long time since I had last played and was reintroduced to it by Nigel’s aunt in Lake Tahoe last weekend. It’s such a great game and that was one of our CityTarget purchases. Scanning the aisles, a brightly colored flannel shirt also caught my eye. Great shirt for fall to throw on with a pair of jeans!
And when we got home, our patio was filled with leaves! I had a fun mini photoshoot amongst the Fall leaves with my husband aka my photographer.
A beautiful Spring day in SF! Love my Oxfords from Nordstrom, black leggings from B.P., tan Nordstrom sweater, H&M long tan blazer and scarf, suede bag from Urban Outfitters and the staple – Chanel sunglasses.
